This is important for you to have an understanding of organic chemistry. Your laboratory education has taught you to develop a simple solution and be able to test it. Once you have mastered the main concepts of organic chemistry, you will be able to understand the element manganese itself. When you understand manganese you can better understand iron.The three inorganic chemical elements are iron, potassium and sodium. You will find them grouped by classifications such as the four isomeric compounds. You can not utilize a compound of one of these elements unless it is in an aqueous state.When you know manganese you are going to be able to better understand the other inorganic elements. You may have never considered that you would have used the compounds of potassium and sodium to create a new substance. You have the ability to do this yourself and you should have no problem learning how to create something you could use in your lab.While the experience is important to a student in organic chemistry, you need to have the discipline to research before you begin learning. The knowledge you have now is not always going to be necessary. As you gain more experience you will have a greater understanding of the individual elements. In this article, I will introduce five new famous Spanish musicians who have have been topping the charts in Spain. In addition to these all being amazing songs, one great thing I find from listening to music in a different language is that it actually helps you learn the language! I’ve met many people who have learned a language just from studying and listening to music! Songs are good for learning because they often repeat lyrics, which helps you learn vocabulary while listening to an awesome beat. Also, the singers usually sing words slowly, so you get lots of pronunciation practice when you sing along. Its a good band to know if youre thinking about learning Spanish. 2) Edurne Amanecer Edurne is a modern artist who recently released Amanecer, soon be the song to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2015. 3) Xoel López Tierra Xoel López is a guitarist and singer from La Coruña, and he is a great songwriter! He has a very simple folk-like sound, but he writes beautiful, chill music. Kind of like the Spanish version of Jack Johnson! 4) Maná Mi Verdad,” a duet with Shakira This is a double whammy, because although Maná is from Mexico and Shakira is from Colombia, they are both very popular in Spain and should be recognized in this list. This is a recent song they recorded together. 5) David Bisbal Culpable David Bisbal is a great singer and artist who writes amazing songs that are staples of the modern Spanish pop music scene. All his songs are great, and this one is slow and easy to understand if youre new to  learning Spanish! AP Classes Go Online Despite strict budget cuts, interest in Advanced Placement (AP) classes at high schools has skyrocketed, and students are now taking AP classes online, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal. Online classes and digital classrooms have been gaining popularity for quite some time. But, digitizing AP programs is a fairly recent trend. The AP program has been booming lately, as students look to get a head start on college classes and credit. Taking an AP class can also improve a students chances of getting into a better college and can cut tuition expenses. About 90% of colleges give high school students college credit for passing AP tests. Some students can actually shave an entire year off college with lots of AP credit, saving a full years worth of tuition and other expenses. AP exam taking has increased 159% since 2000, as a record-breaking 1.99 million students plan to take AP exams next fall. Schools always encourage students to take AP tests and are happy to see more interest, but offering more AP courses is getting very expensive, especially as schools are forced to lay off teachers. Some schools even cover the $87 charge, but that is getting increasingly more difficult with budget cuts and more student interest. So, schools took the AP classes online. Its more ubiquitous, accommodating pretty much any interested student, and its much cheaper. Students simply log on to a program and email, call or instant message teachers with questions. Students can watch lectures, read materials, complete exercises and quizzes and file assignments or exams all online. Students can also collaborate with others to complete online projects. The College Board, which oversees the AP program, said there are no significant differences in test scores between students who take AP classes online and those who take them in traditional settings. However, online AP classes are still too recent to measure significant results. Right now, only 0.5% of AP courses are taken online, but they are becoming more popular. Courses are now available through online schools in 27 states, and 32 states have online, AP programs already set up. Students can also enroll in online AP programs through private companies such as: Advanced Academics, Oklahoma City, which charges $425 for a one-semester AP class. Apex Learning, Seattle; Aventa Learning and its parent company K12 Inc., Herndon, Va.; or the Florida Virtual School, Orlando, Fla., also offer online AP courses.

This is because no two essays are the same â€" essays are designed to allow ideas to flow freely and should display the writer’s personality and opinions.By trying to emulate yours and others’ idea of a perfect essay, you could be stifling your creativity so dispel the idea that you must write in a certain way and just get writing.As easy as that sounds, we understand why students are so caught up on the perfect piece of writing, as they are given unrealistic goals to reach. Websites and educational articles inundate pupils with details about perfect grades, perfect application forms for further education and, of course, how to write the perfect essay.If this holy grail of essays does exist then how come each and every one of them has slightly different ideas on how to perfect it? If a perfect essay does indeed exist, it is only because you have made it perfect in the way that you have approached your chosen subject and how you have made links to come up with your ultimate conclusion.If you were to ask a teacher if they could pick out one perfect essay from all of those they have ever seen, they would find it utterly impossible since every student has unique experiences  to draw from and distinguishes their analysis of texts completely differently to others.Furthermore, the emotions that are displayed in essays are what teachers want to see, and who is anyone to say that we should all feel the same thing when we read a book or write an essay?Writing an essay can be a daunting task. There are many pitfalls for the unwary, but don’t despair! The advice below should help you avoid some of the common mistakes…Understand the question.  Underline key points or words. Is it asking you to discuss, contrast, define or evaluate? Answer the question that’s actually on the page, not the question you wish was there.Do your research.  Make detailed notes from your sources (books, articles, films). Make sure you always write down the full details of where any quotes or ideas come from. Exercise caution  when using internet sources â€" Wikipedia, whilst a wonderful resource,  should not be quoted as a source.Plan your structure.  Start by just getting your ideas down with a spider diagram or a list. After you’ve done that, begin to re-arrange material into a more coherent structure, deciding on what to include in your introduction, your main points for each paragraph and how you will draw it all together in the conclusion.Use the active voice wherever possible.  The active voice occurs when  the subject of the sentence is also the ‘doer’: eg. ‘Hitler’s army invaded Poland’ rather than ‘Poland was invaded by Hitler’s army’. The first sentence is much more direct and snappy â€" the passive voice can easily sound waffly.Don’t make sweeping generalisations.  These can include sentences such as “Many people think that [insert opinion]”. Be specific â€" if you can’t say which people, and reference where they’ve said it, then it’s probably best to re-think what you’re writing.Be careful not to present other people’s ideas and opinions as your own.  It’s easily done, but it’s still plagiarism. If you’re putting forward an opinion that you’ve read on a particular subject, write: ‘[Dr X] wrote in her paper on [Y] that it’s possible that [Z]’.Most important, though, is to remember that your essay should be your chance to put across what   you  think and feel about a subject. A good place to start is by listing all the things that aren’t working for you right now. From there, create an improvement action plan with specific steps you will take to improve the various issues on your list. You may have things listed that you think you have no control over like the boss or a troublesome peer but that’s not true. You can change how you work with them, or how you communicate. Dyslexia Resources: a Guide for Parents First of all, what is dyslexia? There are many misunderstandings about dyslexia, which can be confusing especially if you are a parent of a child who has been assessed as having dyslexia. Even the term varies! You may hear ‘dyslexia’ , ‘specific learning difficulty’, ‘learning disability’, ‘learning difficulty’ or ‘learning difference’. The word 'dyslexia' actually comes from the Greek and means 'difficulty with words', it affects around 10% of the population and is a life long condition. Most importantly, dyslexia does not affect intelligence. Dyslexia is actually really about how information is processed. That is, how information is taken in, understood, remembered, organized and then how this knowledge is demonstrated. Children with dyslexia can have difficulties at all of these stages and generally, these difficulties can be seen in relation to print. For example, a child may be baffling to teachers â€" they appear bright, articulate and knowledgeable yet cannot produce written evidence to match these skills. Dyslexia can and often does, however, extend beyond the printed word into, for example, difficulties with organization, general ‘clumsiness’, the concept of time, numeracy/ mathematics and sustaining attention. So, how can I support my child? Firstly, some initial considerations. Your child will have good days and bad days â€" be relaxed about this! Progress may not be linear â€" it is important that the trajectory is upward over time, but there will be highs and lows along the way. Consistency with school is recommended therefore finding the right school for your child is crucial. Strategies to help with Reading Practice in reading is important. The reading material can be anything that is going to interest your child. There are many books now available that are ‘high-interest’ that is, the content will be suitable for a 9 year old although the reading age may be pitched at 6 years. Newspapers and magazines are also very useful sources of reading material. ‘First News for Schools’ is a newspaper aimed at children and contains a range of literacy resources at different levels. Remember to always praise your child! - It’s important that your child does not become averse to reading because of the demands it places on him/her â€" ensure the emphasis is on what your child reads correctly rather than incorrectly. You can support your child’s reading development in many ways â€" here are some ideas:  Pre-reading - talk! Use your child’s prior knowledge and experience and discuss what they already know about the text before reading. Here are some suggested questions for pre-reading activities: Who are the main characters? How do you know they are the main characters? What do you know about the characters? Do you know anyone like these characters? How do you think the book/passage will end? Have you read another book or seen a film with a similar story to this book? Looking at the front cover, what do you think the book/article is about? What do you think will happen in the book/article Research suggests that pre-reading discussion is one of the best predictors of a successful outcome in a reading activity. 2. During reading  Decoding Thus is a well-known reading strategy but an over-reliance on this can be demoralizing for dyslexic children as comprehension and reading fluency can become compromised. Context clues. Use any pictures available. Refer your child to the same word that he/she read on a previous page. Use your child’s prior knowledge and experience. Meaning is held in memories, and in the language children use to express what they have experienced.   Reading, therefore, should ‘make sense’ within the context of what they already know or understand, about their world.   Children draw upon meaning when reading. Use syntactic clues (the order of words in a sentence). Language follows certain rules - ‘runs dog the fast’ - does not make sense. Use semantic clues. Good readers develop an expectation that reading about, for example, cats will contact words such as tail, purr, whiskers etc Paired reading â€" basically, reading together! Let your child take the lead when confident and step in when he/she comes across an unfamiliar word that is proving difficult to figure out. Don’t forget, it isn’t wrong to read the word for your child. Strategies to improve spelling Your child will have target words and spelling patterns to practice. Here are some ways you can help at home: 1.Word search Create your own word searches using your child’s target words. Find here a great example by Puzzlemaker 2. Media search     Your child has 10 minutes to look for his/her target words and highlight them in a newspaper or magazine. 3.  Colourful words Ask your child to identify the tricky part of the word and then write it in bold eg s a i l b e f o r e t h e y s h i r t 4.Scrambled words Jumble up the letters and ask your child to spell the word (you can use Scrabble letters) 5.Missing letters Write the word leaving out the tricky part for your child to complete eg b l a _ _ (black) 6.Listen carefully Ask your child to sound the letters in the word for you to write. Has he/she made the correct sound-letter correspondence? 7.  Design a word Write a word in bubble writing and colour in each letter with a different pattern. 8.Mnemonics Eg big elephants can’t always use small elevators (because)  9.Air spelling/Salt box spelling This is a game to play with your child. Ask your child to use his/her index finger to write the word in the air slowly, saying each letter and ‘seeing’ each letter. When the word is finished, ask him/her to ‘underline’ it and say it again. Pour salt into a shallow box/tray (about 3cm deep) and then ask your child to practice writing his/her spellings in it with his/her index finger. ......
